Hi I'm Karna from Indonesia. I read Mr Hodges' post on Mytt.net proclaiming the TTC.com.

I'm 40, yet still a newbie in playing tt. First time I got a blade was when I was in elementary school, over 25 years ago, I played with my classmates just for fun. I played for about only 1-2 years.

In 2008 I began to join a friend who was trained by a local player and also a coach. I did multi ball training, from then on I got the joy of playing it.

I got coached from a local coach and from my friend.

I realize my training is not a regular one, it's an on and off. Should be more training. "Nothing replaces training" is my favorite quote from Bengtsson, it really is!

Hope you don't mind answering my questions, Mr Hodges and all TTC.com !

God Bless !

Re: Introduction

Hi Steve, I've heard of you though we haven't met. Glad you are here, and hopefully we'll discuss some interesting topic here. Good luck on the Regional Coach certification!

Re: Introduction

Hello Larry my friend :) I dont think weve ever actually met, but I am Steve Banet Sr., but I go by Pappy now (the age thing) plus lots of kids and grandkids so....hence the name. Anyway, I am 2 time IN state champion, and numerous state doubles champion. Currently rated about 2203 I think, but have been as high as 2278. I have been playing tournaments since 1985 the first year of the Bernard Hock open. Bernard was my coach until he passed in 1999, and I know I spent countless hours in his basement helping him make paddles and get them sent to China, Sweden, who knows where else. Right now I am a State level coach, but will be taking the test to become Regional coach in a few weeks. Im very glad to be here and I hope there will be much I can learn from you. So CHEERS to my new friends, and I hope to see some of you soon at the table :)

Welcome Karna! We all start

Welcome Karna!

We all start off as newbies. If you've been doing multiball training with a coach, then you're probably getting past that stage, however!

Nothing replaces training" is my favorite quote from Bengtsson, it really is!

Stellan's one of the great coaches in table tennis. I assisted at one of his camps last year for a couple of weeks, and learned a lot. It took a few days just to get used to the idea that I was assisting Stellan Bengtsson - yes, STELLAN BENGTSSON! - in a table tennis camp!

Hope you don't mind answering my questions, Mr Hodges and all TTC.com !

That's what I'm here for! I hope and expect other coaches will soon be joining us as well.
